RUSSELL, KAN – Planned To Shoot Rabbits. But Instead, a Young Russel Boy Was Shot. Harry, the 13-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Strecker, suffered a slight wound from a 22-revolver. Dean Smith, of this city, was visiting him at his country home, and they were planning to shoot rabbits with the revolver. Dean was loading it and it was accidentally discharged, the bullet striking young Strecker, and passed across his abdomen under the skin, but not deep enough to cause any serious injury. The young man is getting along fine. The accident was a very fortunate one, and all are pleased that it was no more serious. – The Salina Daily Union, Salina, Kansas. August 26, 1911.
