Giles Smith, of Wyandotte, was sentenced to the penitentiary for seven years for stealing a box of herring and a bottle of gin from a railroad car. That shows how awful wrong it is to steal from a railroad company. We think the penalty was a lenient one, for since the railroads are entirely running our State we do not see why the man wasn’t hung. The Atchison Daily Patriot, Atchison, Kansas.
