Peter Gibson, a deacon in the Colored Baptist Church at Wichita, was arrested a few evenings ago charged with stealing coal from the cars in the Missouri Pacific yards.  For some time parties have been stealing coal there and watchmen have been unable to catch them.  Three men were found on a coal car filling sacks but got away.  One was recognized and informed on the deacon.  The Globe-Republican, Dodge City, Kansas.  December 18, 1889.  Page 2.  © Transcribed by Darren McMannis for the Kansas Council of Genealogical Societies, Inc.
