BR Brown County, Kansas (formerly Browne County), was established in 1855. It was one of Kansas’ original 36 counties and named for Albert Brown, a U.S. Senator from Mississippi who promoted Kansas statehood. The county seat of Brown County is Hiawatha, Kansas.
